Sidney Bailey was a retired University Lecturer. Whilst a member of the BCG he was the Regional Chairman for the South East Region and ran an "Exotic Corner" for the Newsletter for several years.

In the early seventies, Sidney decided to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip around the world to study his real love of life, his specialist subject; turtles, terrapins and the exotic species of the world. He travelled across Australia, Asia and India describing Singapore as "exotic" in every sense of the word. He photographed everything he saw. He died in October 1991.

Over 800 slides were left to the BCG by Mr Bailey. Unfortunately little documentation has survived with them. A small percentage of them are shown here.

They have been split into 3 categories: Tortoises, Turtles and Box Turtles plus Miscellaneous
