2003 Appeal: 'CARAPAX' (European Centre for Chelonia Conservation)

The 2002 Carapax Appeal for the Louisinia Project has been the most successful appeal ever.

A total of £10,360 has been raised, which means that, after costs of microchipping, health certificates etc. an amount of £7,500 has been contributed to the Louisiana Project.

In total 205 animals ( 8 tortoises and 197 terrapins) have been transported to Italy this summer over 6 airlifts.

However much more money is needed to bring the Project to a successful end as there are still a great many Red-eared Terrapins out there.

The Committee has decided to run the Carapax Appeal for the Louisiana Project for a second year.
